Historic District of Santiago November 17, 2019 Blog / Chile / Santiago 0 Comments We decided to visit the historic district of Santiago Chile today. Plaza de Armas is the main plaza of Santiago. Many of the historic buildings are located here or within walking distance. Plaza de Armas is surrounded by shops in a pedestrian only street. Around the plaza is the Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral, police station, post office and other old buildings. Within walking distance is the Santiago Domingo Church, Church of the Augustines, Constitution Plaza, La Moreda Palace (President’s residence) and Mercado Central de Santiago. The Mercado Central de Santiago is the market where fresh fish, meat and vegetables can be found as well as some restaurants and souvenir shops.
